Thank you, and we'll see you next year!

Hero Conf 2013 was a smashing success, and it's not a stretch to say that it was all thanks to everyone who attended, spoke, mixed and mingled. With more than 200 PPC professionals in the same room, I think we were all beyond pleased with the level of discussion (and fun!) during all three days of the conference.

We're sad to have to say goodbye until next year, but also incredibly happy with how it turned out.

John Gagnon is a Bing Advertising Evangelist at Microsoft based in Seattle, Washington. He loves search marketing & online advertising.
He is a frequent speaker at search marketing conferences like Search Engine Strategies, Search Marketing Expo & other events like the Online Marketing Summit.
He works with advertisers large & small providing insight on how to improve campaign performance for paid search. He consulted with Microsoft's product groups ranging from Microsoft Store, Hotmail & Windows to Windows Azure & Office 365 on their paid search advertising campaigns running on the Yahoo! Bing Network. John has also helped a range of strategic advertisers including Hotwire, Dish Network, Esurance, Nintendo and BlackRock.
Prior to working at Microsoft, John worked at Google for the AdWords Small Business segment becoming an expert in their toolset. Before entering the online advertising space John spent time as a Research Analyst for a private equity fund based in Seattle.

Paul is the lead product manager at Google responsible for all AdWords advertiser tools and interfaces, including AdWords.google.com, Editor, and API. Prior to his current role, he led the product teams responsible for all of Google's mobile advertising product, as well as Google's international billing and payments systems.

Paul has earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Neil Sorenson is the Head of Pay per Click at ZAGG.com. Previously he spent four years working for search marketing agencies like OrangeSoda and SEO.com. During that time Neil managed hundreds of accounts across dozens of industries. In early 2012 Neil made the switch from agency to in-house at ZAGG to head up all paid search, retargeting, product feed management, media buying, and ping pong domination.


In May of 2012, Neil organized and created the petition against Google Adwords protesting the removal of the “rotate evenly” setting. It was arguably the most successful and wide-reaching protest to have ever been lobbied against Adwords and was one of top factors that affected Google’s decision to return the ability to rotate ads evenly to their advertisers.

Chris Kostecki has been working in Search since 2006, and in marketing since 1997. He created a PPC product for small businesses to supplement a Yellow Page directory product, and worked as a PPC manager in an agency serving eCommerce clients before his current role as in-house Search Analyst at Keurig Inc., the manufacturer of the revolutionary single cup coffee maker, part of the Green Mountain Coffee family. Austin Dillman (@austin_dillman) is the Search Marketing Specialist for Finish Line, the 2nd largest athletic shoe and apparel retailer in the nation with more than 660 stores in 47 states. Austin helps manage the company’s search engine marketing strategies including paid search, display, remarketing, comparison shopping and SEO. His knowledge and experience in the online marketing world includes graphic design, email marketing, video editing and content production, but the last few years of his career have been focused on managing SEM programs.

Outside of his duties at Finish Line, Austin provides paid search consulting services to businesses looking to either create PPC programs from scratch or have their existing accounts audited and managed. He also draws on his experience as a graphic designer to assist with landing page creation and UX design.

Paid Search Specialist Skullcandy/ASTRO Gaming

Jennifer has worked in digital marketing and paid search analysis since 2009, when she was recruited by Overstock.com to work on their Internal Search team. She was quickly promoted to the Paid Search team where she successfully managed many of Overstock's largest accounts and broadened her knowledge and understanding of the Paid Search industry. In January of '12, Jennifer was recruited by Skullcandy to manage Paid Search Marketing for their ASTRO Gaming division. In June, Jennifer was promoted to Manage all of Skullcandy's Paid Search Marketing, which includes their SEM account and the Comparison Shopping Engines. Jennifer's earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT, and attributes much of her success in this industry to the analytical and reasoning skills she acquired while studying mathematics.
